VA Lowers Native American Direct Loan Rate to 2.47%: Zero Down Payment for Eligible Veterans on Tribal Land

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced in its November 4 veterans resources newsletter that the interest rate on its Native American Direct Loan (NADL) program has been lowered to 2.47 percent, allowing eligible Veterans to buy or build a home on tribal land with no down payment.
NADL is VA's direct loan program for Native American Veterans, with loans made directly by VA to purchase, build or improve homes on federal trust tribal land. Because of the trust status of tribal land, conventional mortgage lending often cannot reach these properties, and the program provides a dedicated path for Native Veterans returning to their communities. VA said a home on tribal land can mean more than a place to live - it can mean reconnecting with family, culture and community.
The same newsletter published the latest special benefit allowance rates, covering adapted vehicles, clothing damaged by service-connected treatments or devices, and Medal of Honor pensions, along with the key dates to apply, so eligible Veterans can check what they may qualify for.
VA also listed its standing resource lines: 1-800-MyVA411 (1-800-698-2411) for general questions, and the Veterans Crisis Line at 988, then press 1.
