SR-91 Overnight Closures Nov. 9-13: Cerritos-to-Gardena Stretch Narrows to Two Lanes

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · California · GSM News

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that State Route 91 (SR-91) between Cerritos and Gardena in Los Angeles County, California, will see overnight lane, connector and ramp closures from Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 13, for curb, gutter and sidewalk work, striping and bridge demolition under a sign rehabilitation project. There will be no closures on the nights of November 10 and 11 due to the Veterans Day holiday, and all closures on the night of November 9 will reopen by 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Eastbound and westbound SR-91 will each be reduced to two lanes overnight between Vermont Avenue in Gardena and the Orange County line at postmile 20.7 in Cerritos. On the nights of November 9 and 12, up to three eastbound lanes will close from Vermont Avenue toward I-710 and I-605 starting as early as 8 p.m., with similar westbound closures from Atlantic Avenue to Vermont Avenue. Closures on the night of November 13 will extend as late as 10 a.m. the next morning.

Connectors from eastbound SR-91 to southbound I-110, northbound I-710 and I-605, and from westbound SR-91 to I-110 and I-405, will close on a rotating basis, with rolling full closures possible. The westbound off-ramp at Alameda Street/Santa Fe Avenue in Compton will close for bridge demolition work, as will the westbound Long Beach Boulevard ramps in Long Beach; detour signs will be posted.

Caltrans said the $34 million project will rehabilitate and upgrade roadside and overhead signs, lighting, highway planting, guardrail and worker safety features along a 14.7-mile stretch of SR-91 in Los Angeles County. The contractor is Security Paving Company, Inc., and completion is expected in summer 2029. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, slow for the cone zone, and check Caltrans QuickMap for current conditions.
