Dana Point Homicide Suspect Arrested in San Francisco: Man in His 70s Found Dead at Home
The Orange County Sheriff's Department in California announced on November 4 that a 32-year-old suspect has been arrested in San Francisco in the death of a man in his 70s who was found dead at his home in Dana Point. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
Deputies responded at about 10:30 a.m. on November 3 to a residence in the area of Breakers Isle and Niguel Shores Drive, where an acquaintance had found the homeowner deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates the man had apparently been shot and had been dead for several days.
Using automated license plate reader (ALPR) data, investigators located the victim's vehicle in San Francisco. Working with the San Francisco Police Department, deputies arrested Cordell Dionte Studley, 32, in the vehicle and recovered a handgun and other evidence. Studley was booked on suspicion of murder under California Penal Code section 187 and awaits transport to the Orange County jail.
