[Video] Drummer Boy Opens November 6: Smallbone Brothers' Revolutionary War Musical
Drummer Boy, Angel Studios' first live-action theatrical musical, opens exclusively in U.S. theaters on November 6. Directed by brothers Ben and Joel Smallbone from a screenplay by Richard L. Ramsey, the film follows two brothers caught on opposite sides of the Revolutionary War.
Joel Smallbone stars as Jeremiah Clem opposite Lucas Leach as his younger brother Benjamin, with Iain Glen, Ioan Gruffudd, Melora Hardin, Charles Esten and India Brown rounding out the cast. Filmed in Ireland, the picture features original music by for KING + COUNTRY, the Grammy-winning duo the Smallbone brothers front.
The brothers have said the story draws in part on their own years of estrangement during the band's early touring life and their eventual reconciliation, making the film a story about finding peace amid conflict. Rated PG-13, it marks Angel's first move into the live-action musical genre after a run of faith-based successes.
Angel Studios, known for its guild-driven presale and word-of-mouth release model, opens the film nationwide on November 6; the official trailer is streaming on Angel's official channel.
