Families Who Lost SNAP Can Get a One-Time $100: GiveDirectly and Propel Pay Out Before Thanksgiving, With Sign-Up Only on November 4 In-App

Nonprofit GiveDirectly and the benefits app Propel launched a one-time cash payment on November 4: families who have lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits can receive $100, paid out before Thanksgiving Day, November 26, with no restrictions on how it is used. The two organizations warn that sign-up happens only inside the Propel app, and that anyone contacting users about the program outside the app is running a scam.
Eligibility has three parts: the person must be an active Propel user; must have linked an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card in the app before October 31, 2026; and must have received SNAP in September 2026 but not in October. Eligible users are selected at random as funding allows. The sign-up window was November 4 only, through a banner inside the app, with no other channel.
Propel, a benefits management app for low-income households, has more than 5 million households as users. According to an analysis by the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), about 5.2 million Americans have lost SNAP eligibility since the One Big Beautiful Bill Act took effect in July 2025.
The two organizations have run similar efforts before: during a SNAP pause in 2025 they sent about $12 million to 246,990 households within two weeks, and since 2020 they have delivered more than $220 million in cash assistance combined.
GiveDirectly, a nonprofit that gives unconditional cash directly to people in poverty, hosts the program page at givedirectly.org/snapbridge. The group says the payment is meant to help families who lost food benefits cover grocery costs ahead of the holiday season.
