Thursday, November 5, 2026 · States · GSM News

Lane County, Oregon, posted midterm turnout approaching presidential-election levels, the Register-Guard reported in its five takeaways from the county's results. Turnout among active voters reached 58.19 percent, below the 77 percent of November 2024, but County Clerk Tommy Gong said the figure is high for a midterm.

In the governor's race, Tina Kotek led Republican challenger Christine Drazan by about six points in unofficial returns. Eugene voters passed the city's Clean Energy Fund, which will be set up between 2026 and 2029 and applies to companies with at least $1 billion in revenue.

Locally, challenger Athena Aguiar declared victory over incumbent Eugene Councilor Mike Clark; Republicans Jack Tibbetts and Claire Lynn won two open state House seats; Democrat Doyle Rodley held his Springfield seat; and District 12 Democrat Amber Smith won 43.6 percent of the vote without campaigning.
