Chiefs Legend Kendall Gammon Named Team's 2026 Salute to Service Award Nominee

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on the afternoon of November 5 that team legend and Chiefs ambassador Kendall Gammon is the team's nominee for the 2026 Salute to Service Award. Sponsored by USAA, the award honors NFL players, coaches, staff and alumni who have made outstanding contributions in support of U.S. service members, veterans and their families; this is its 16th year.
Gammon served for years as the Chiefs' long snapper and has remained a team ambassador since retiring, staying active in military community work. The Chiefs said Gammon has consistently visited military bases and taken part in veterans' charity programs over the years, serving as an important bridge between the team and the military community. A total of 32 nominees were named league-wide this year, one from each team.
Fans can vote for nominees starting now on the Salute to Service voting page on NFL.com; voting closes at 10:59 p.m. Central on November 30. The league will select the final winner based on fan voting and a judges' panel and announce it during the season. The Chiefs said Gammon's nomination is itself recognition of his years of dedication, whatever the final result.
