Small Plane Makes Hard Landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor; Five Aboard Uninjured, South Runway Briefly Closed

A small plane made a hard landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at about 7 p.m. on November 4, briefly closing the airport's south runway while crews worked to move the aircraft. Airport spokesman Jon Brodsky said the incident did not affect overall airport operations and caused no flight delays. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed on November 5 that the Cessna 414 landed with its landing gear retracted. The Phoenix Fire Department said five people were aboard and none was injured. The airport said the south runway would remain closed until the plane was removed, with crews working at the scene. The FAA is looking into the incident, and The Arizona Republic has asked the agency for more information. The hard landing happened during the evening travel period, but the airport stressed that runways other than the south runway operated normally and passengers were not significantly affected. The cause of the hard landing remains under investigation, and officials have not yet released details on damage to the aircraft or follow-up arrangements.
