Colorado Disaster Assistance Centers for Southwest Floods Open Through November 11

Recovery from flooding in southwestern Colorado is continuing. In its State Emergency Operations Center update dated November 7, the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said the SEOC remains at Level 1 supporting the southwest flood incident that began on October 23, and that the State Recovery Task Force was activated on November 4.
Disaster Assistance Centers are open from November 7 through November 11, giving residents a one-stop location for resources from local government agencies, nonprofit organizations and other groups. The Rio Grande and Mineral County center at 810 Oak Street in Del Norte is open from noon to 6 p.m., with staff from the Crisis Track survivor portal, the American Red Cross, Colorado VOAD, public health and social services agencies on site.
Cleanup support is also moving. The American Red Cross delivered 200 flood cleanup kits to South Fork and 98 kits to Del Norte in Rio Grande County, more than 400 additional kits remain staged with partners including The Salvation Army and ToolBank USA, and another 400 Salvation Army kits are being delivered with National Guard support. Crisis Cleanup has launched a hotline incident to coordinate flood cleanup needs.
State officials note that the Colorado Department of Transportation's November 5 update for the southwest remains in effect, with extended detours and delays for essential travel, and residents are encouraged to register their needs at an assistance center to connect with recovery resources.
