Vikings QB Murray Out With Hamstring Injury; Wentz to Start Against Bills

The Minnesota Vikings confirmed on November 5 that quarterback Kyler Murray will miss next Monday's home game against the Buffalo Bills with a hamstring strain, and that veteran Carson Wentz will start. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Murray's injury will be evaluated week to week, and that a decision on injured reserve has not been made.
The Vikings are 6-1, and Monday's opponents, the Bills, are also 6-1, setting up a showdown between two division leaders. Wentz, 33, has appeared in two games this season with one start, completing 23 of 39 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He relieved Murray on September 13 and started the following week while Murray dealt with a concussion. Backup quarterback Max Brosmer will serve as Wentz's understudy.
Murray had been steady since joining the Vikings this season, and the team was unbeaten before last week's loss. O'Connell said the coaching staff has full confidence in Wentz to lead a rebound. The Vikings-Bills game is set for Monday night in Minneapolis.
