New England drought expands sharply in a week: Vermont moderate drought jumps to 32%

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows drought expanding sharply across New England over the past week: the share of Vermont in moderate drought jumped from 14% to 32%, and New Hampshire's rose from 33% to 40%.
Over the past 90 days, parts of the region have received only 50% to 75% of normal precipitation. The expansion comes in late autumn, with farm and water officials watching conditions closely.
