Survey closes November 5 on future of Metro-owned lot in Portland's Jade District

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Society · GSM News

Residents of Portland's Jade District had until November 5 to weigh in on the future of a vacant Metro-owned lot. APANO, the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon, ran a community survey on the property; the results will shape the organization's recommendations to Metro, which will fold community priorities into a statement of community values in its developer request for proposals.

The 1.47-acre site at 2815 SE 90th Place is near the MAX Green Line. Metro bought it in fall 2025 with state-allocated funds for affordable housing and commercial development. Neighbors then wrote to Metro asking for a community park instead. Because Metro's transit-oriented development program does not fund park construction or maintenance, Metro agreed to postpone developer selection for a year while park advocates look for another buyer or alternative plan; if none emerges, Metro will proceed with housing.
