Columbus reaches settlement of over $1 million with Latitude Five25 owner; most to seed Tenant Relocation Fund

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · Society · GSM News

Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein announced on November 5 an initial settlement of more than $1 million from Paxe Latitude, owner of the now-demolished Latitude Five25 twin towers. Most of the money will serve as seed funding for the city's Tenant Relocation Fund, covering initial relocation costs in emergency evacuations; under a 2024 council ordinance, landlords ultimately repay those costs.

The Latitude Five25 towers in east Columbus were evacuated on Christmas Day 2022 after losing power and heat, with burst pipes and failed elevators, and stood vacant for years before demolition began this May. In 2024 each affected household received a $10,000 check, and the city expects another payment in 2027.
