Philadelphia officials condemn planned 'boycott ride' past Jewish-owned businesses; police to be present

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker spoke out on November 5 against a planned Sunday bicycle 'boycott ride' targeting Jewish-owned businesses, calling it antisemitic. Governor Josh Shapiro's office also condemned the ride, and state police have engaged.
According to the organizers' social media posts, the ride, organized by groups including Philly Bike On Your Left, would pass six Jewish-owned restaurants in the Rittenhouse Square area. Sunday noted the ride is set for the eve of the 88th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the November 9-10, 1938 Nazi pogrom in which synagogues were burned and Jewish businesses and homes attacked.
Parker said everyone has the right to peaceful protest, but singling out businesses solely because their owners are Jewish is unacceptable; Philadelphia police will be present during the event to maintain safety and order. (Source: Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office)
