Seattle police chief Shon Barnes fires department's top two civilian officials
Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes fired the department's two top civilian officials early on November 5: general counsel Rebecca Boatright and chief operating officer Brian Maxey. Both were long-serving senior civilian leaders in the department.
The firings came less than 12 hours after the first ballots were counted in the November 3 mayoral election. In early returns, Mayor Bruce Harrell led challenger Katie Wilson, with mail ballots still being counted.
