Crown Royal Launches Second Purple Bag Food Drive With Feeding America Match: Up to 250,000 Meals if Fully Matched

New York — Crown Royal on November 5 announced the return of its Purple Bag Food Drive, now in its second year, in partnership with the nonprofit Feeding America: the brand will contribute $15,000 to Feeding America and match eligible public donations dollar for dollar up to $10,000, with the matching window open from November 5 to November 30.
Based on data provided by Feeding America, every dollar raised helps provide at least 10 meals; if fully matched, the combined $25,000 could help provide at least 250,000 meals through the network of more than 250 food banks, 20-plus statewide food bank associations, 10-plus regional cooperatives and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs across the United States and Puerto Rico.
At three Purple Bag Food Drive events held alongside the Crown Royal Rig's November visits to football communities, volunteers will pack food for local distribution, and the brand will donate an additional $5,000 to each participating food bank, for $15,000 in total: November 6 in New Orleans (Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana), November 20 in Phoenix (St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance) and November 24 in Dallas (North Texas Food Bank). Total giving under the program is capped at $40,000 with a $30,000 minimum, made through the Crown Royal Generosity Fund.
James Valdes, Crown Royal Director, said generosity is part of who the brand is, noting its past support for military members, hospitality workers and small businesses through the Purple Bag Project and the Crown Royal Generosity Fund, and invited communities to help neighbors facing hunger. Milt Liu, President and CEO of St. Mary's Food Bank, said the season of giving is a reminder of the connection food can create, but that neighbors facing hunger need support throughout the year.
Feeding America is one of the nation's largest hunger-relief networks, supporting tens of millions of people each year; its member food banks typically serve as hubs for food drives and volunteering through the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. (Source: Feeding America)
