Thursday, November 5, 2026 · World · GSM News

The Caribbean island nation of Grenada held a general election on November 5. According to results from the Grenada Parliamentary Elections Office, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, won 14 of the 15 seats in the House of Representatives, securing a second term in a landslide.

The NDC received 37,369 votes, or 61.00 percent of valid votes cast. The opposition New National Party (NNP), led by Emmalin Pierre, received 22,567 votes, or 36.84 percent, and held on to just one seat, St. George North West, won by Adrian Joseph. The Democratic People's Movement placed third with 1,189 votes, or 1.94 percent, and won no seats. Turnout was 63.49 percent.

All 15 members of Grenada's House of Representatives are elected by first-past-the-post voting in single-member constituencies. Parliament was dissolved in early October, and Mitchell announced November 5 as the election date. The Elections Office says the figures remain provisional, pending official certification.

Mitchell, 49, first led the NDC to victory in 2022, when the party won nine seats with 51.84 percent of the vote. Increasing its haul to 14 seats on 61 percent marks one of the party's strongest-ever showings, while the NNP suffered a heavy defeat.
