Intercity Bus Atlas Fall Update Maps 3,928 Stops and 1,947 Routes Nationwide
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) announced on November 5 the Fall 2026 update to the Intercity Bus Atlas, an interactive digital mapping application of all scheduled intercity passenger bus services in the United States.
With this update, the Atlas now features 3,928 stops and 1,947 routes, representing the networks of 49 scheduled intercity bus providers, an increase of 3 providers from the last update in August 2026. The Atlas data are sourced directly from providers, all of whom volunteered their schedule and network information to BTS.
BTS said the Atlas is the only regularly updated, comprehensive public map of the scheduled intercity bus network of the United States, providing researchers, policymakers and planners with national-level data on the availability and connectivity of this mode of long-distance passenger transportation. Users can download the geospatial files from the National Transportation Atlas Database.
BTS will update the Atlas on a quarterly basis, and future versions will include additional carriers as well as route and stop frequency.
