NekoCon Opens November 6 in Hampton: Virginia's Longest-Running Anime Convention Enters Its 28th Year
NekoCon returns November 6-8, 2026, to the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia. The organizer bills NekoCon as Virginia's longest-running anime convention; entering its 28th year, this edition's theme is "The Rise of Purrzilla," and the venue's official calendar lists the show opening November 6.
According to the organizer, the theme grows out of the convention's mascot lore: a black-cat mascot who walked beside Reiko vanished during the tenth year's zombie-apocalypse storyline, and this year the kaiju cat Purrzilla returns to share the stage with mascots Reiko, Akiko, TK and Miyoko.
Voice guests include Kimberley Anne Campbell (Nahida in Genshin Impact; Nagatoro), Christopher Niosi (Reigen in Mob Psycho 100), Tiana Camacho (Ermes in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean; Lily in Street Fighter 6) and Bill Rogers (Brock in Pokemon, and the voices of more than 80 Pokemon creatures).
Programming highlights include the all-ages NekoCon Prom on November 6 at 9 p.m. in Main Events, with formal dress and DJ Miyoko, followed by the Friday Night Dance from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.; the Saturday Night Dance runs November 7 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The weekend also features an AMV contest and a tabletop gaming room. Pre-paid registration pickup and a VIP pre-party run November 5 from 7 to 10 p.m.
The Hampton Roads Convention Center offers 344,000 square feet and 35 event spaces under its signature white sails, with nearly 4,000 complimentary parking spaces nearby. The center is at 1700 Coliseum Dr, Hampton, VA. Tickets and the full schedule are at nekocon.com and thehrcc.com. (Source: NekoCon)
