Friday, November 6, 2026 · World · GSM News

Magdeburg — Police in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt said a two-seat ultralight aircraft crashed onto the A2 motorway northeast of Magdeburg on the afternoon of November 6, killing both people on board; the aircraft caught fire on impact.

Police said the crash happened at about 2:48 p.m. local time, between the town of Burg and the Krähenberge rest area, on the carriageway toward Hanover; no vehicles on the road were involved. Rescue workers recovered the two occupants dead from the wreckage, and their identities have not been released; all Hanover-bound lanes of the A2 were closed for a time.

Flight-tracking data and local media identified the aircraft as an Aerostyle Breezer ultralight registered to an aero club in Kropp, Schleswig-Holstein, which had taken off from the club's airfield at 12:33 p.m. that day. Police and technical investigators have opened an inquiry into the cause of the crash, and no findings have been announced. (Source: Saxony-Anhalt Police)
