Minnesota Governor-elect Klobuchar Unveils Transition Team Led by Former Appeals Judge Cindy Jesson

Minnesota Governor-elect Amy Klobuchar on November 5 unveiled a transition team led by former state Court of Appeals Judge Cindy Jesson, with Rochester Mayor Kim Norton joining at Jesson's invitation. Klobuchar defeated Lisa Demuth 55 percent to 43 percent on November 3 and is set to be sworn in on January 4, 2027, as Minnesota's first woman governor.
Jesson, a former appellate judge, will run the transition. Norton, retiring after two terms as mayor of Rochester, previously served 10 years in the state House and eight on a school board; her specific role is still being defined. Rochester is the state's third-largest city and home to Mayo Clinic.
Other members include Mayo Clinic board member Doug Baker, former St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, Tony Sertich, Gary Wertish, Justin Buoen, Rose Sullivan, Miguel Alexander Pozo, Lee Sheehy, Sam Clark, MayKao Hang, Scott Vadnais and Dan McConnell - a roster spanning health care, labor, city government and business.
The team says it will complete cabinet selection and agency-by-agency handover reviews over the next eight weeks and coordinate budget preparation with Governor Tim Walz's administration. Klobuchar, a longtime U.S. senator, campaigned on lowering family costs and stabilizing state finances.
