Alabama Governor-elect Tuberville Names Senate Aide Jordan Doufexis as Chief of Staff in First Transition Appointment

Alabama Governor-elect Tommy Tuberville's Golden Age Transition Team made its first personnel announcement on November 5: Jordan Doufexis, Tuberville's current U.S. Senate chief of staff, will serve as chief of staff to the governor. The announcement, issued from Montgomery, formally opens the staffing of the incoming administration after Tuberville's November 3 victory.
As Senate chief of staff, Doufexis oversees Tuberville's Washington and Alabama operations, coordinates his legislative priorities and manages the office day to day, making the move to the governor's office a transfer of the same leadership team. The transition team noted Doufexis's family ties to Rainsville in north Alabama; he has moved his family back to Montgomery, where his young daughter was recently born.
Tuberville said the new administration will "work for the people of Alabama" and called Doufexis his most trusted operator. The transition team said further cabinet and agency appointments will be announced as preparations continue.
Tuberville, a former U.S. senator and college football coach, will see the succession for his Senate seat and his inauguration schedule handled under state law and congressional procedure. The transition team has begun coordinating the handover with Governor Kay Ivey's office.
