New York Completes $86.7 Million I-95 Rebuild: About 5 Miles of Roadway and 11 Bridges Renewed

The New York State Thruway Authority announced on November 5 that the $86.7 million reconstruction of Interstate 95 through Westchester County is complete. The stretch, in Westchester County, New York, runs about 5 miles - 30 lane-miles - from Exit 15 in Pelham Manor to Exit 18A in Mamaroneck, on one of the busiest commuter corridors in the state.
The work rehabilitated six bridges, including the Centre Avenue bridge in New Rochelle and the Chatsworth Avenue bridge in Larchmont, and resurfaced six more bridges and 12 ramps - 11 bridges repaired or resurfaced in all. DeFoe Corp of Mount Vernon performed the work using nighttime and staged closures to keep traffic moving.
Executive Director Frank G. Hoare said the state has invested nearly $200 million across about 15 miles of I-95 since 2023. The authority says pavement condition and bridge ratings on the finished segment are back in good range, which should cut vehicle damage and crashes tied to potholes and bridge joints.
More corridor work continues: a bridge over the Metro-North tracks in New Rochelle is in finishing stages, and the Mamaroneck-to-Rye segment is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The authority advises that some ramps will still see short nighttime closures during finishing work.
