Denver's 'Light the Lights' Returns November 20: Mayor to Flip the Switch at the City and County Building

The City and County Building in Denver, Colorado, hosts the annual Light the Lights celebration on November 20 at 5 p.m.: Mayor Mike Johnston will speak briefly and flip the switch for the building's first lighting of the season. The opening ceremony lasts about 15 minutes, with ASL interpretation provided; residents can also watch on Denver 8 TV and the city's Facebook page.
From November 20 to January 24, 2027, light-and-music shows run Tuesdays through Sundays at 5:45 and 6:45 p.m., followed by static lights until 10:45 p.m.; Mondays are static-only because of City Council meetings. The building stays dark on December 5 for the Parade of Lights and on December 21 for the homeless persons' memorial vigil.
The city notes that Civic Center Park remains closed for renovation, so this season's holiday traditions are spread across downtown locations, with the building lighting among them.
