Ukraine's Zelenskiy Hopes Abu Dhabi Talks Open Path to Leaders' Meeting with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in Berlin on November 3, alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, that he hopes the upcoming United States-mediated talks with Russia in Abu Dhabi will open the way to a trilateral meeting of leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
US special envoy Steve Witkoff announced the adviser-level talks for November 10 and 11, covering post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts and next steps toward peace. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed a Russian delegation led by former culture minister Vladimir Medinsky. Zelenskiy said Kyiv's priorities are security guarantees and economic recovery, plus an energy-infrastructure ceasefire before winter and unblocking the Black Sea.
European governments have insisted on a role but are unlikely to be at the Abu Dhabi table; US envoys will meet representatives of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, NATO and the EU in Brussels this week on security guarantees for Ukraine. Zelenskiy's Berlin visit was unannounced for security reasons.
