Philippines Turns Over 8.6 Billion Pesos to 306 Disaster-Hit Local Governments: Release Time Halved

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the ceremonial turnover of Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Assistance Program (DRRAP) funds at Malacañan Palace on November 5, releasing 8.6 billion pesos to 306 local government units recovering from typhoons, earthquakes and the 2024 to 2026 Kanlaon Volcano eruption.
Marcos said more than 6 billion pesos in the first batch has been released and a second batch of more than 2.5 billion pesos approved and being downloaded. Processing that used to take eight to 11 months will now take four to six months, he said, calling the program part of bringing government services closer to every Filipino family.
Malacañang said on November 6 that the funds are allocated by need, regardless of political affiliation. Marcos also administered oaths the same day to 10 ad interim senior appointees, including Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, who remain subject to confirmation by the Commission on Appointments.
