Thai PM Anutin to Face First Censure Debate December 7-11: Opposition Targets 18 Ministers

Friday, November 6, 2026 · World · GSM News

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's government has agreed to a December 7 to 11 schedule for its first censure debate in parliament, with a confidence vote on December 11, government spokesperson Ekkapob Pianpises said on November 3, under a timetable agreed by government and opposition whips.

Opposition parties have filed a motion targeting 18 ministers from the ruling Bhumjaithai Party, including Anutin, alleging fraud in the upper house election process, corruption in local government examinations, and mismanagement of the economy and recent floods. Bhumjaithai has rejected the allegations and says it is ready for the proceedings.

Anutin's coalition holds 292 seats in the 499-member house against the opposition's 207. Wanwichit Boonprong of Rangsit University expects Anutin to prevail, though a cabinet reshuffle may follow. On November 4, Anutin also set out a Reinvent Thailand agenda focused on making better use of the country's strengths amid global uncertainty.
