Sacramento Superior Court Hosts Adoption Day for Children in Foster Care

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento Superior Court hosted an Adoption Day event at Juvenile Court on November 6, finalizing and celebrating adoptions for children from the foster care system.
According to the court's November 3 press release, Adoption Day aims to raise public awareness of the need for adoption and help prospective families understand the process. Judges and court staff were joined by community partners including the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Parent Cooperative, the Sheriff's Youth Services Unit, Sacramento Public Library, Zeta Phi Beta, Lend A Heart, Wayinder, the 501st Legion and Build A Sundae. The day included adoption proceedings, refreshments and children's activities.
Because adoption proceedings are confidential, the event was closed to the public and the media. Sacramento County's Adoption Day is a long-running collaboration between the court and community organizations.
