Democrat Jessica Killin Wins Colorado's 5th District, Flipping It for the First Time Since Its Creation

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Democrat Jessica Killin was declared the winner of Colorado's 5th Congressional District on November 6, the first time a Democrat has captured the district since it was created.
In results counted as of 11:45 a.m. on November 6, Killin led Republican incumbent Jeff Crank by 50.5 percent to 45.8 percent. Colorado Springs is a military stronghold with five installations in the district, and service members and their families make up about a third of the local population. Killin is a longtime Democratic congressional staffer who previously served as chief of staff to the former second gentleman. She said the victory grew out of voter frustration over the cost of living, the Iran war and tariffs. The win gives Democrats at least six seats in Colorado's congressional delegation for the first time.
Meanwhile, Republican Jeff Hurd held the 3rd District: the Associated Press called his race on November 6, with Hurd defeating Democratic challenger Dwayne Romero by 49.3 percent to 47.4 percent. The 4th District remained undecided, with Republican incumbent Lauren Boebert temporarily trailing.
