Jackson Nightclub Shooting Suspect Makes First Court Appearance on Two Capital Murder Charges

JACKSON, Miss. — Eddie Collier II, the arrested suspect in the Jackson nightclub shooting, made his first court appearance on the morning of November 6 in a Jackson court.
Collier, 22, is charged with two counts of capital murder and seven counts of aggravated assault. The judge denied bail on the murder charges, and bail on the seven assault charges totals $3.5 million. The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. on November 1 at the Hideaway nightclub in the 5100 block of the Interstate 55 North frontage road, leaving two people dead and six wounded. Police identified the two victims as Loveday Poindexter, 20, and Jada Henderson, 18, a Jackson State University student, both of whom died at the scene.
It was the second fatal shooting at the nightclub in seven months: on May 17, Alanna Duck, 19, was shot and killed inside the club. Jackson Mayor John Horne said on November 1 that the nightclub has suspended operations pending further investigation, and Jackson State University canceled undergraduate classes on November 2 and 3.
