Follow-Up: Ohio Governor-Elect Acton Says She Has No Intention of Speaking to Ramaswamy

Friday, November 6, 2026 · States · GSM News

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor-elect Amy Acton said in a November 6 interview on CBS Mornings that she has "no intention" of speaking with her Republican opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy conceded after losing to Acton in the November 3 election.

The dispute stems from an ad leaked on October 19 by the Ramaswamy campaign featuring Acton's estranged mother, Donna Arthur, accusing her daughter of misrepresenting her upbringing. Acton called the ad "disgusting" in the interview. Figures from both parties condemned the ad for crossing a line in campaigning, and Gov. Mike DeWine had also asked the Ramaswamy campaign to take it down. Acton said she has not spoken with her mother since then.

By defeating Ramaswamy, Acton became the first woman elected governor of Ohio and the first Democrat to win the governorship in 20 years. She began transition work on November 5, and DeWine has said he does not support weakening the incoming governor's authority. Her inauguration preparations are under way at the state capital in Columbus, Franklin County.
