Weeklong Kansas City Sweep Clears 75 Warrants, Nets 21 Fugitives

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A weeklong U.S. Department of Justice-led sweep, Operation Sign Off, concluded in the Kansas City and St. Joseph areas, clearing 75 warrants and arresting 21 defendants accused of serious crimes. Federal and local law enforcement announced the results on November 6.
The operation targeted individuals wanted for violent crimes while advancing prosecutions in related cases, as part of the Justice Department's nationwide Operation Take Back America.
The name Operation Sign Off pays tribute to the signature sign-off line of the late CBS anchor Walter Cronkite, symbolizing an end to criminal activity and accountability for offenders.
Officials said the weeklong joint federal and local operation worked through warrants one by one to make the arrests. All of those taken into custody are accused of serious offenses, many of them violent crimes, and their cases will now move through the courts. The operation covered Kansas City, St. Joseph and surrounding areas.
