Philadelphia Begins Canvass of General Election Ballots on November 6, to Continue Until Complete

Friday, November 6, 2026 · States · GSM News

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — The canvass of ballots from Philadelphia's 2026 general election will begin at 9 a.m. on November 6. The Philadelphia City Commissioners' office announced on November 3 that the canvass covers all ballots cast in the general and special elections held on November 3, will take place at 11311 Roosevelt Blvd, and will continue until it is complete.

The commissioners' office also published its canvass procedure documents for public review. Philadelphia is Pennsylvania's most populous city, and its counting progress has long drawn statewide attention.

On Election Day, November 3, Philadelphia's satellite election offices were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to serve voters. Once the canvass begins, the commissioners' office will count and verify the ballots according to procedure until complete results are produced.

The City Commissioners' office is Philadelphia's election authority, responsible for voter registration, election administration and ballot counting. This canvass covers all ballots from the general and special elections; once the results are tallied they will be reported through the proper channels, and the timing of official certification will depend on how the canvass proceeds.
