Saints Promote Irish Kicker Charlie Smyth From Practice Squad
NEW ORLEANS, La. — The New Orleans Saints promoted Irish kicker Charlie Smyth from the practice squad to the active roster this week, the team announced on November 6. GSM reported on November 3 that veteran kicker Daniel Carlson had parted ways with the team; this story follows up on the change at the position.
Smyth, from Northern Ireland, had been waiting for his opportunity on the practice squad. Last season he appeared in six games for the Saints, making 12 of 16 field goal attempts with a long of 57 yards, and converted all 13 of his extra point attempts.
