South Carolina Governor-Elect Wilson Holds First Transition Press Conference, Unveils Priorities

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina's incoming administration made its first public appearance on the morning of November 6, as Governor-elect Alan Wilson and Lieutenant Governor-elect Mike Reichenbach held their first formal transition press conference since winning Tuesday's election. Wilson takes office in January. The press conference was held Friday morning at an auto body shop in West Columbia, where Wilson and Reichenbach outlined transition arrangements and the new administration's direction.
Wilson announced his policy priorities: putting relief for residents first, modernizing state government, lowering the state property tax, eliminating the state income tax, and seeking authority for the governor to suspend the gasoline tax in a crisis to provide timely relief to residents and businesses. He also announced transition team members, including Mike Johnson of Columbia and Bob Castellani of Greenville. Wilson said the transition team will begin preparing the new administration to ensure a smooth handover in January.
