Former Indianapolis FOP President Rick Snyder to Run for National Union Vice President

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Rick Snyder, former president of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police, announced on November 6 that he will run for national vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police, the union representing more than 380,000 law enforcement officers across the United States.
Snyder, a police officer for about 30 years, stepped down as president of the Indianapolis lodge on October 30 after 12 consecutive years in the post, the longest tenure in the lodge's history. He said current national president Patrick Yoes and current national vice president Joe Gamaldi are among the executive board members backing his bid, and Gamaldi himself has voiced support for Snyder succeeding him as vice president.
Indianapolis-area officers elected Bobby Ferguson on November 5 to succeed Snyder as lodge president. Snyder's run for national vice president would carry his Indianapolis lodge experience to the national level; the union will announce the election outcome in due course.
