Texas District 32: Yarbrough Edges Barrios as Republicans Flip the Seat

Friday, November 6, 2026 · States · GSM News

Dallas, Texas — Results in the Dallas-area U.S. House District 32 election on November 3 became clearer on November 6: Republican constitutional lawyer Jace Yarbrough defeated Democrat Dan Barrios by 51.5 percent, with 142,834 votes, to 48.5 percent, with 134,781 votes, making the district the only congressional seat Republicans flipped in Texas this cycle; it had been held by Democrats.

The redrawn district leans much more Republican. Formerly made up of Dallas and nearby suburbs, it now includes only part of Dallas and extends east into Republican-leaning counties.

Southern Methodist University professor Matthew Wilson said Yarbrough won thanks to redistricting, but by a much narrower margin than expected, reflecting a broad rise in Democratic votes across districts.

After redistricting, Texas Republicans will hold 24 seats in the new Congress and Democrats 14. Yarbrough will take office on January 3, 2027.
