Five Nevada Local Races Too Close to Call; Reno Council Seat Hangs on 81 Votes

RENO, Nev. — The Washoe County elections office reported on the morning of November 6 that the county still had 7,000 mail ballots to process and 2,300 provisional ballots to verify, with five local races too close to call.
The smallest margin is in Reno City Council Ward 4, where challenger Eddie Gomez leads incumbent Meghan Ebert by 5,588 votes to 5,507, a gap of just 81 votes. In the Sparks mayoral race, challenger Wendi Rawson leads incumbent Mayor Ed Lawson by 17,294 to 17,114, a margin of 180 votes. In Washoe County Commission District 2, Democrat Mary Rodriguez leads Republican Jon Kilooran by 22,622 to 22,171, a gap of 451 votes.
Under Nevada law, mail ballots sent before Election Day, November 3, and received by November 7 can still be counted; ballots with signature issues must be cured by Monday, November 9, while 5 p.m. on November 6 was the deadline for ballots without a postmark to arrive. The county commission must certify the results by November 13, and results are updated daily at 6 p.m.
