Nicholson-Bovell to Run in Milwaukee County Executive Special Election in Wisconsin

Friday, November 6, 2026 · States · GSM News

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. — Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson-Bovell confirmed on November 6 that she will run in the special election for Milwaukee County executive, seeking the post being vacated by David Crowley, who was elected governor. Nicholson-Bovell said she does not intend to serve as interim county executive, but will seek voters' support to win the office.

Crowley won the Wisconsin governorship in the November 3 midterm elections; he has not yet resigned as county executive or announced a resignation date. Under Wisconsin law, once Crowley resigns, Nicholson-Bovell will serve by law as acting county executive until a special election produces a new county executive. If Crowley resigns before December 29, the special election will be held together with the 2027 spring primary and spring election.

"I intend to earn the voters' trust in the next special election and serve in this office," Nicholson-Bovell said.
