West Virginia American Water Advances Central Grove Treatment Plant Linking Two Systems

JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. — West Virginia American Water announced on November 6 that it is advancing water infrastructure upgrades in Jefferson County, carrying out preparatory work for the future Central Grove water treatment plant. The project, located near the intersection of Golden Road and Mary Avenue in Jefferson County, will become an important part of the local water system once built and will interconnect the Mountain water system with the Walnut Grove system. The Walnut Grove system is already an interconnected network of multiple treatment facilities.
Company president Scott Wyman said that since taking over five local utility entities in Jefferson County, the company has been strengthening the water infrastructure residents depend on. The company has invested more than $11.7 million locally over the past three years.
West Virginia American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, is the state's largest regulated water utility, with about 315 employees serving roughly 610,000 people with safe, clean, reliable and affordable water and wastewater services. No start date for the Central Grove project has been announced, and the company said work will continue to move forward.
