Lilly Teams With Hims & Hers to Sell Obesity Drugs: Foundayo From $149 a Month, Zepbound From $299
Eli Lilly and Company, based in Indianapolis, and telehealth platform Hims & Hers Health announced an agreement on November 6 to expand access to Lilly's obesity medicines. Under the agreement, eligible patients who receive a prescription from a licensed provider on the Hims & Hers platform will be able to buy Zepbound (tirzepatide) and Foundayo (orforglipron) at the same self-pay prices available to any patient, without leaving the platform for Lilly's own cash-pay site.
Self-pay pricing starts at $149 per month for Foundayo, a daily oral medicine, and $299 per month for Zepbound, a once-weekly injection — matching the prices available through LillyDirect. Patients can complete a consultation on the Hims & Hers platform, receive a prescription if their provider determines it is appropriate, and have an FDA-approved Lilly medicine shipped directly to their home.
Ilya Yuffa, Executive Vice President and President of Lilly USA, said Lilly is always looking for new ways to help more people get the medicines they need, which means meeting patients where they already are; millions of people turn to Hims & Hers for their care, and through this agreement those patients now have a simpler, more direct way to get FDA-approved Lilly medicine at an affordable price if prescribed.
Andrew Dudum, co-founder and CEO of Hims & Hers, said he was proud that Hims & Hers is part of making sure more people can access the medicines Lilly has created. Under the agreement, Hims & Hers has never offered access to compounded copies of Lilly's GLP-1 medicines and has committed not to do so in the future; the companies have also committed to protecting independent clinical decision-making, so providers on the platform continue to prescribe the treatment they determine is right for each patient.
Reuters reported that Hims & Hers shares rose more than 7 percent in premarket trading after the deal was announced. Previously, patients on Hims & Hers could only reach Lilly's medicines by leaving the platform for LillyDirect.
