Omaha Man Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison for Conspiring to Distribute Methamphetamine

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nebraska announced that a man from Omaha, a city in Douglas County, Nebraska, was sentenced on November 5, 2026, in federal court in Omaha to 216 months in prison, or 18 years, for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture of methamphetamine. Keith Pumala, 67, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr.; after his release he will begin a five-year term of supervised release, and there is no parole in the federal system.
Prosecutors said Pumala was involved with a Mexican source of supply of methamphetamine that supplies the Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa, areas through a local network of drug couriers. Customers call the source to order drugs, and the source sends a courier to complete the transaction; Pumala was a local courier operating in Nebraska and Iowa who received and distributed the source's drugs.
On June 30, 2025, a confidential informant working with law enforcement contacted the Mexican source and ordered one pound of methamphetamine, and the source sent Pumala, who delivered one pound of methamphetamine to the informant at an Omaha location.
On July 21, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Pumala's residence and seized approximately 14 pounds of methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the sentence. The prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, bringing together HSI, the FBI, the DEA and other agencies, with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
