Five Indicted on Firearms Charges in Las Vegas: Shots Fired Into a Restaurant, an Armed Store Robbery

A federal grand jury has indicted five Las Vegas residents on firearms charges, and two more men have made initial appearances on federal firearms charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada announced. "The indictments handed down today represent a decisive strike against illegal gun violence," said First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah, adding that the office will not stand by while violent actors abuse firearms to terrorize neighborhoods.
According to the indictment, Lil Jarmarr Baker-Reed of North Las Vegas allegedly fired multiple rounds from a 9mm Ruger pistol at another individual, and some of those rounds hit a nearby restaurant. Baker-Reed has three prior felony convictions — for burglary, grand larceny, and possession or transfer of a stolen vehicle — and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He is charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) investigated the case.
Michael Kirk Brooks of Las Vegas allegedly possessed a 9mm pistol and possessed methamphetamine with intent to distribute; with multiple prior felony convictions, he is charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm, facing up to life in prison if convicted. Jimmy Dean McFarland allegedly robbed a store at gunpoint and, with a prior felony conviction for robbery with the use of firearms, is charged with interference with commerce by robbery, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, also facing up to life in prison. The FBI investigated McFarland's case.
In addition, a Las Vegas woman allegedly straw-purchased a firearm for a man who is a prohibited person; both are charged with conspiracy to straw purchase firearms and false statement in acquisition of a firearm, among other counts, facing up to 15 years each if convicted. Two more men with felony records, Dominic Flanagan and Christiano Decarlo, have made initial appearances on felon-in-possession charges; their jury trials are scheduled for January 4, 2027, before U.S. District Judges Cristina D. Silva and Gloria M. Navarro, and each faces up to 15 years if convicted.
An indictment merely contains accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The public may submit anonymous tips about gun crimes to ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS. (Source: U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada)
