Blue Ash Man Sentenced to 200 Months for Placing Hidden Cameras in Two Minors' Bedrooms

David Mitsnefes, 33, of Blue Ash, Ohio, was sentenced in federal court in Cincinnati on November 6 to 200 months in prison for sexual exploitation of a child, U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II for the Southern District of Ohio announced.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, between 2021 and 2025 Mitsnefes entered a private residence multiple times without permission to install and maintain hidden cameras in the bedrooms of two minors. The family of the teenage victims found hidden cameras in the minors' bedrooms on multiple occasions.
Prosecutors said Mitsnefes used Wi-Fi to save videos of the minors to his iPhone and also took the victims' underwear, keeping it in his bedroom. A later search of his electronic devices found videos of the victims as well as numerous images and videos depicting child sexual abuse material obtained over the internet: more than 5,000 images and 3,000 videos in total.
"By invading the most private spaces in their lives, David Mitsnefes destroyed his victims' sense of safety and stripped them of the fundamental expectation of privacy within their own home," U.S. Attorney Gerace said. "Over the course of years, he inflicted profound and lasting damage on the minors and their family. This conduct calls for the sentence he received today."
Mitsnefes was charged federally and arrested in December 2025 and pleaded guilty in July 2026 to sexual exploitation of a child. Senior U.S. District Judge Michael R. Barrett imposed the sentence.
The FBI's Cincinnati Division, Blue Ash Police Chief Roger Pohlman and other members of the FBI's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force announced the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle J. Healey is prosecuting the case, which is part of Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice's nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
