Follow-Up: Zac Affleck Addresses Divorce Filing in Lengthy TikTok, Says Jen Raised Divorce a Year Ago and He Begged Her to Stay; Jen Posts Throwback Clip the Same Day

Zac Affleck, a star of the reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, posted a TikTok video of about five minutes on November 5, publicly addressing his wife Jen Affleck's divorce filing for the first time. Jen filed for divorce on November 3 at the Fourth Judicial District Court in Provo, in Utah County, Utah, ending the couple's seven-year marriage.
According to PEOPLE, Zac, 30, told his nearly 350,000 followers that it was true Jen had filed for divorce and true that he had found out about the filing from a TMZ reporter, but that the two had been talking about it for a long time. He said he currently has no PR team and no manager, that he made the video to address what has been happening and to shut down narratives, and that there is no 'Team Zac' or 'Team Jen.'
In the video, Zac said that about a year ago, after Jen's run on Dancing with the Stars, she told him she was unhappy and wanted a divorce. He said he 'basically begged her to stay,' told her he would work on things, fix things and become whoever she needed him to be, but that ultimately they could not make it work. He admitted he had 'made plenty of mistakes' in the marriage and said he still loves Jen.
He also said the couple married very young and signed up for reality television together. Marriage is hard, he said, having a marriage in public is hard and raising kids is hard, and over time the couple slowly lost their spark.
The children were his central concern in the video. The couple share three children — Nora, 5, Luca, 3, and Penelope, 1 — and Jen is currently pregnant with their fourth. Zac said the thing eating at him most was feeling that he had failed his kids and worrying that he might cause them damage. He said he hopes the two can still give the children a normal childhood, that he and Jen are on the same page about giving them the best life and the best childhood they can as teammates, and that they can show what a healthy co-parenting relationship looks like. He also asked people not to speak badly of Jen, and said he would continue to support her and be her biggest fan.
The same day, Jen shared a throwback clip on TikTok. In the clip she is trying to film a routine video while Zac, off camera, makes a disparaging comment about her appearance and tells her she would not want to post looking like that. Jen laughs and asks whether she is embarrassing herself; he replies that she is, a little. Jen captioned the clip: 'he was never my biggest supporter.'
Jen and Zac met in 2018 through the dating app Mutual and married in 2019. Jen announced on Instagram on June 18 that she was expecting the couple's fourth child. When she filed for divorce on November 3, she also filed a proposed parenting plan for the couple's children; further details of the filing have not been made public. The spinoff series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, in which Jen appears, is set to premiere on November 12. (Source: PEOPLE)
