Jennifer Lawrence's One-Line Comment Goes Viral: Smoothie King Turns 'You Paid Me No Mind' Into a Nationwide Drink

Two weeks after it went viral, a single Instagram comment has been turned into an actual drink. On November 5, smoothie chain Smoothie King launched the Connor's Paid Me No Mind Smoothie at stores nationwide, naming it after the line Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence left for comedian Connor Wood. The 20-ounce drink blends whole strawberries and bananas with electrolytes, packs 26 grams of protein and zero grams of added sugar, and is sold in stores only. According to Parade and EntertainmentNow, the collaboration is between Smoothie King and Wood himself; Lawrence is not an official partner.
It started with an interview. Wood, a comedian and podcast host also known as Fibula, is competing on this season of Dancing With the Stars. Appearing on BuzzFeed Celeb with his professional partner Rylee Arnold, he admitted Lawrence was his celebrity crush and made a plea: he just wanted a little acknowledgment from her that he was funny, and that would be enough.
Lawrence actually saw the video. She had only recently joined Instagram, and after fans tagged her in the comments, she replied under the BuzzFeed Celeb Instagram video: "I saw you on 8th avenue drinking a smoothie and you paid me no mind." In other words, the two had already crossed paths on a New York street; Wood had simply been too focused on his smoothie to notice her.
Arnold captured Wood's reaction in a TikTok video: he lay face down on the rehearsal-studio floor, then read the comment aloud in disbelief. After the exchange spread in late October, Lawrence's line became a trending TikTok sound, reused in clips about missed connections, from late-night replays of awkward social moments to famous near-miss scenes from film and television. Indy100's November 5 roundup showed the trend still growing.
Speaking to Us Weekly after Dancing With the Stars' Horror Movie Night on October 27, Wood said the two sides had been in touch, noted that Lawrence was busy launching a haircare brand, and joked, "I get to call her Jennifer." In two weeks, one missed encounter traveled from an Instagram comment to a drink named after it.
