Arkansas Forward Savings Reach $158 Million, More Than Halfway to $300 Million Goal

Arkansas announced on November 5 that Arkansas Forward, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders' government-efficiency initiative, has now verified $158 million in savings — more than halfway to its goal of cutting $300 million in government spending by the end of 2030. The latest round added $23.4 million, identified mainly through reduced departmental contract spending.
The initiative, a centrepiece of Sanders' fiscal agenda since she took office in 2023, seeks savings through financial efficiencies across state agencies. The state has also launched a public Arkansas Forward dashboard where taxpayers can follow the savings in real time and download the underlying dataset. Sanders won re-election on November 3, having campaigned on tax cuts and education reform.
