[Video] Netflix Orders 'Stranger Things' Live-Action Prequel 'Other Worlds,' Set in 1955 Nevada and Due in 2028

Netflix has given a series order to the live-action Stranger Things prequel series Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, Variety reported on November 6. Netflix released the official announcement teaser on November 6, Stranger Things Day, and the new series is slated to premiere in 2028.
The teaser opens on April 19, 1955, in Marion, Nevada: an abandoned bicycle fitted with a glitching radio at night, as a mysterious phenomenon forms in the sky. The prequel is set before the events of both the flagship series and the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow.
The series is co-created by longtime Stranger Things writer Kate Trefry and the Duffer Brothers, with Trefry as showrunner and Matt and Ross Duffer executive producing under their Upside Down Pictures banner. Director Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes, and production will take place in New Mexico. Matt Duffer told Variety the spinoff will delve into and explain the stone that turned Henry Creel into Vecna.
Other Worlds is the fourth project in the Stranger Things universe, following the animated series Stranger Things: Tales From '85 and the stage play The First Shadow. No cast has been announced.
