Former Indianapolis Police Union Chief Rick Snyder Announces Run for National FOP Vice President

Rick Snyder, former president of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police, announced on November 6 that he will run for national vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police, the union representing more than 380,000 law enforcement officers nationwide. Snyder served in law enforcement for about 30 years and stepped down as president of the Indianapolis lodge on October 30 after 12 years — the longest tenure in the lodge's history.
Snyder said executive board members including national president Patrick Yoes and current vice president Joe Gamaldi support his candidacy, and Gamaldi has endorsed Snyder to succeed him. Indianapolis-area officers elected Bobby Ferguson on November 5 to succeed Snyder as lodge president. The national election result will be announced by the union in due course.
