Eastbound SR-78 to Close Fully for Two Nights: Weigh-in-Motion Sensors Replaced in San Marcos

Caltrans has announced that eastbound State Route 78 in the City of San Marcos, San Diego County, California, will be fully closed for two consecutive nights, Sunday, November 8 and Monday, November 9, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, at South Rancho Santa Fe Road.
Crews will replace the in-pavement weigh-in-motion sensors. During the closures, traffic will be detoured through the off- and on-ramps past the work zone; Caltrans advises drivers to allow extra travel time, obey work-zone speed limits and follow directions from traffic controllers on site.
The work is part of the State Route 78 corridor improvement project, a 17.7-mile effort running from Interstate 5 in the west to Escondido in the east, with a total investment of $126 million, including $111.5 million in federal funds (with $9.2 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) and $14.5 million from the State of California.
